What is the new 'normal' for the mining industry?

About David Humphreys

David is the former Chief Economist of Norilsk Nickel, Russia's largest mining company, which he joined in 2004. In this role, he provided advice to the Board and senior management on the outlook for the global metals and mining industry and assisted in the formulation and implementation of group strategy. He was previously with Rio Tinto for eighteen years, the last eight of these as the company's Chief Economist. David has written and lectured extensively on the economics of the mining and metals industries, publishing well over one hundred articles and papers. Prior to joining Rio Tinto, David worked for nine years in UK government service, for six of these as an advisor on minerals policy. He has a bachelor's degree and PhD from the University of Wales.
